Navratri 1st Day 2025: Today is the first day of Navratri. Goddess Shailputri is worshipped on the first day of Navratri. Navratri holds special significance in Hinduism. On the first day of Navratri, Ghatasthapana is performed during the auspicious time, which is also called Kalash Sthapana. Along with sowing barley, many people also light the eternal flame. Devotees worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga with devotion for nine days. It is believed that those devotees who worship the Goddess with devotion and faith, Goddess Durga resides in their homes for nine days and showers her blessings on them. It is believed that Goddess Durga took nine different incarnations and destroyed demons. And devotees worship her in these nine forms (Mata Shailputri). 


Maa Shailputri Bhog Recipe

On the first day of Navratri, during the Kalash Sthapana (the ritual of setting up the Kalash), Goddess Shailputri is worshipped. Red flowers are offered to the Goddess. The offerings made for Goddess Shailputri are made from cow's ghee and milk. You can offer kheer made from cow's milk to the Goddess. To make kheer, you need cow's milk, sugar, cardamom, sago, or makhana. Kheer made from sago and makhana can also be eaten during the fast after the prasad. 

Method of worshiping Mother Shailputri

On the first day of Navratri, the form of Goddess Durga, Shailputri, is worshipped. Wake up early in the morning, bathe, and wear clean clothes. Then, thoroughly clean the temple. Before worship, light the eternal flame and perform the Ghata installation at an auspicious time. Now, facing east, spread a red cloth on the platform and place a picture of the Goddess. First, invoke Lord Ganesha, and then, holding a red flower, invoke Goddess Shailputri. Red flowers should be used for worshipping the Goddess. Offer Akshat (rice flour), vermilion, incense, perfume, and flowers to the Goddess. Chant the Goddess's mantras. Light a lamp with ghee. Perform Aarti (aarti) for the Goddess. Blow the conch shell. Ring the bell. Offer Prasad (offerings) to the Goddess.
