From electricity, water, gas, and FASTag, many important payments can be made through WhatsApp. Learn how it works

Now there's no need to open separate apps to pay electricity, water, and gas bills. WhatsApp's new Bill Payments feature allows users to pay multiple important bills in a single app. Learn how this feature works and how to use it.

If you use different apps to pay your electricity, water, and gas bills, there's good news for you. Now, you won't need to repeatedly open a separate app to pay these bills. WhatsApp has launched a new Bill Payments feature in India. This feature allows users to pay various important bills directly through WhatsApp.

Until now, WhatsApp was mostly used for chatting, sharing photos and videos, and calling. But now the company is expanding the app's payment features. With the new Bill Payments feature, users will be able to manage their daily bills from a single app.

Which bills can be paid on WhatsApp?
This new WhatsApp feature allows users to pay for a variety of bills, including electricity, water, piped gas, FASTag, insurance, credit card bills, and loan repayments.

This feature is integrated with the Bharat Connect (BBPS) network. This allows users to choose from different billers. However, you can only pay a specific company or department's bill if it is available on this network.

How to make bill payment?
Using this feature is quite simple. First, open WhatsApp on your phone and tap the ₹ icon on the WhatsApp home screen.
You'll now see the Bill Payments option. After tapping this option, you'll need to select the bill category you want to pay.
For example, if you need to pay an electricity bill, you'll need to select the Electricity option. Next, select your electricity department or service provider.

You will now need to enter your customer number or account number. After entering the details, if your bill is available in the system, the bill amount will appear on the screen. You will then need to verify the bill amount and other details. Once everything is correct, you can proceed with payment.

Multiple bills can be managed from a single app
This feature will be especially beneficial for those who pay multiple bills each month. Now, there's less need to open separate apps for electricity, water, or gas bills. Additionally, previously used billers can be easily accessed again on WhatsApp, making it even easier to pay your bill next time.

Not all users have received the feature yet
This new WhatsApp feature is being rolled out gradually to users in India. So, if the bill payments option isn't visible on your WhatsApp yet, don't worry. This feature may be made available to more users in the future.
