The phone boasts of excellent looks and performance

Xiaomi's independent brand, Poco, has successfully carved a niche for itself in the Indian market. It has attracted users by offering high-tech features at an aggressive price ( POCO X7 5G Price In India ). The POCO X7 5G is its latest smartphone series, which includes the X7 5G and X7 Pro 5G ( POCO X7 5G vs X7 Pro 5G ). While these phones follow the Redmi Note 14 series in terms of specs and features, Poco has created a distinct identity through its design and pricing. We have the POCO X7 5G for our review . Let's find out how this phone performs in initial use in our first impressions.

Poco X7 5G Price in India, Availability

The Poco X7 5G is offered in two variants in India. The base 8GB + 128GB configuration is priced at ₹21,999, while the 8GB + 256GB variant is priced at ₹23,999. It comes in Glacier Green, Cosmic Silver, and Poco Yellow color options. The review unit we received is in the 'Poco Yellow' color, which features 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Design

The Poco X7 5G is primarily for those who want a designer phone that delivers performance. Inside the box, you'll find the phone, a USB Type-C cable, a charger, a SIM ejector tool, a user guide, and a protective case. The back of the phone feels premium, perfectly fitting the Gen Z look. However, I personally didn't like the heavy Poco branding on the phone. The leather finish is impressive and prevents the phone from slipping. If the camera module were a little more compact, the look and feel would have been more ideal. Still, it deserves full marks for design.

The company has focused on the build quality and durability of the POCO X7 5G. The phone supports IP66 + IP68 + IP69 ratings, which means it's somewhat resistant to dust and water damage. The power button and volume rocker are on the right side. Their positioning was fine for me. The SIM tray is located at the bottom, along with the Type-C port and speaker. Another speaker is also located at the top, making it a dual-speaker phone.

Display

The phone features a 6.67-inch AMOLED curved display with a 1.5K resolution. It's protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for scratch resistance. The display has a peak brightness of 3000 nits, making it bright even in direct sunlight. A 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate make the POCO X7 5G ideal for gaming and smooth scrolling.

During initial use, the display's color contrast seemed balanced. Thanks to the curved display, the bezels are quite thin, and the display is visible throughout the phone. The punch-hole cutout is also quite small, housing a 20MP selfie camera. The in-display fingerprint sensor responds quickly. However, you should only buy this phone if you're comfortable with a phone with a larger display.

RAM + Chipset

The POCO X7 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset, built on a 4nm TSMC process. The company sent us the Yellow variant, which has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone's initial performance seemed decent to me. Apps opened and closed quickly. It handled the load of 10 to 12 tabs in the Chrome browser without lag. The phone's gaming performance remains to be seen; you'll have to wait for a detailed review.

Battery, Software

The POCO X7 5G runs HyperOS based on Android 14. The company has promised three years of Android updates and four years of security updates. The POCO X7 5G comes with a 5500mAh battery, which supports 45W Turbo Charging. It is claimed that the phone will be charged 100% in 47 minutes. Initial use suggests a durable battery, and charging is fast. However, a battery test will reveal its potential. We will also provide the battery test results in this review.

Camera

The POCO X7 5G features a 50MP primary rear camera. It supports optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization. Simply put, the photos you take with this camera will be more stable. It also features an 8MP ultra-wide camera that captures a 120-degree field of view. There's another 2MP sensor for macro shots. The phone also features a 20MP selfie camera. In the initial shots, I liked the results of the selfie camera. The details in the photos are clearly visible. The selfie camera captures the kind of photos people like to share on social media these days.

The POCO X7 5G features several AI features, such as AI Smart-Clip, AI Beauty, and AI Cutout. Some features will be available in the January OTA update, the most notable of which is AI Erase Pro. It can be used to erase objects from photos. In this review, we'll also explore this phone's AI features and how useful they are in everyday use.

After using the POCO X7 5G for a couple of days, I can say that the brand has offered users everything they need in the 20,000-30,000 rupee range. If you don't mind owning a phone with a funky look, you can put the POCO X7 5G on your wishlist. We'll bring a detailed review very soon, which will help you decide whether or not to buy the POCO X7 5G.
