IIT Madras takes a big step! Students from smaller cities will have access to a national-level placement platform.

There's a huge opportunity for engineering and degree-diploma students from smaller cities. IIT Madras has launched the NIPTA portal, which offers online training, exams, and certification. This will open up opportunities for companies to offer placements and internships to talented students.
New Delhi:
IIT Madras Portal: Engineering students in smaller cities, pursuing degree and diploma courses, no longer need to wander for career opportunities. With the support of the Ministry of Education, IIT Madras has launched a national-level portal that will accurately evaluate students' talents and provide them with better internship and placement opportunities. This portal is named NIPTA (National Internship, Placement Training & Assessment). Its purpose is to provide students studying in smaller cities and towns with direct opportunities in large companies.
How will the IIT Madras portal help students?
IIT Madras Professor Srikanth Vedantam says, "Our focus is on students who can't easily find placements on campuses in big cities. This portal will now provide them with a platform to showcase their talent." This will provide students with complete support. They will undergo a three-month online course tailored to industry needs. After the training, students will be tested and their rankings will be compiled, which will be shared with companies. Students who take the exam will also receive an IIT Madras certificate. Most importantly, there's no fee required for this.
How will the industry benefit from this portal?
This portal is not only convenient for students but also for industries. They will have easy access to talented and certified students. It will be easier to select the right candidates without any hassle.
Exam and Eligibility
The exam will be conducted at the national level starting in 2026. Third-year engineering and other degree courses and final-year diploma students can participate. The three-hour offline exam will be conducted in major cities across the country.
When will the registration start?
Registration has begun on this portal. So far, approximately 5,000 students have registered on the portal. If you would like to register, you can do so by visiting the NIPTA official portal.
