Highlights

The starting price of Amazfit Active 2 is Rs 9,999

The premium variant with leather strap and sapphire glass is priced at Rs 11,999

The premium variant also comes with a red colour silicone strap inside the box.

The smartwatch market is constantly growing rapidly, and if you're looking for a device under ₹10,000 that has a premium look, offers essential smart features, and a good health tracking setup, the Amazfit Active 2 is an interesting option. I've only used the watch for two days, so this isn't a review. However, the experience I had in this short period was impressive in many aspects, especially the design, display, and interface. It's too early to comment on the accuracy of the health or fitness features, but its feature set gives an idea of the level of product the brand aims to offer. So, without further ado, let me tell you how impressed I was with the Amazfit Active 2 at first glance.

Amazfit Active 2: Price, in-box contents, and design

The Amazfit Active 2 has been launched in India at a starting price of ₹9,999 for the standard version. Its premium variant with a leather strap and sapphire glass is offered for ₹11,999. I had the premium variant for review, which comes with a leather strap and a red silicone strap included in the box. The standard version only comes with a black silicone strap. Both variants come with a charging coil in the box, but the charging cable is not included, which may increase your cost a bit. However, the good thing is that the coil comes with a Type-C charging port.

The first thing that catches your eye upon taking the Active 2 out of the box is its design. For a price of ₹10,000, I wasn't expecting such a sophisticated finish. The smartwatch body is made of stainless steel, making it lightweight but not cheap. At first glance, it'll remind you of old-school classic models from Timex or Casio, which continue to hold their own even in today's modern generation. The circular metal dial features two buttons on the side. These are used to control the smartwatch. Sensors are embedded in the back.

The strap impressed me less than the dial at first glance. The quality could have been better. However, it didn't bother me even after prolonged wear. However, I liked the quality of the silicone strap. I didn't experience any allergic reactions or sweat issues with either during two days of use. Of course, the true test of a strap's quality will come after long-term use.

While it was the right size for my wrist, it won't fit every wrist. If you have a slim wrist, you should try it on before buying. However, its light weight makes it comfortable to wear. It's rated for water resistance up to 5 ATM, which means it can withstand water pressure up to a depth of 50 meters. However, I'll have to see how much damage the leather strap can take when carried underwater.

Amazfit Active 2: Display

Its 1.32-inch AMOLED display is very sharp to look at. It features 2.5D tempered glass and anti-fingerprint coating. The premium variant offers sapphire glass. The display panel's peak brightness is claimed to be up to 2,000 nits, and to be honest, I didn't experience any issues while using it outdoors in sunlight. Both text and icons appear clear and colorful. Touch response has also been smooth, with no lag or stutters.

Amazfit Active 2: Software and interface

The Amazfit Active 2 runs on Zepp OS and connects to the Zepp app. The interface is clean and user-friendly. Scrolling is smooth, and there were no lags in navigation until I started writing this news. Changing watchfaces is quite easy, and the app offers a number of free options. There are also some paid watchfaces that are impressive in terms of animations and visuals.

It also comes with an AI assistant called Zepp Flow that works on voice commands, but I haven't used it actively yet, so it wouldn't be right to give any personal opinion on its usage.

Amazfit Active 2: Features and Specs

While I haven't yet thoroughly tested the Amazfit Active 2's health tracking or fitness modes, it gave me accurate heart rate readings most of the time during two days of usage. It has 164 sport modes, basic and advanced features like sleep monitoring, stress measurement, and SpO2 sensing.

Some useful features like offline map support, inbuilt GPS, and voice note recording give it a leg up over other budget watches. One interesting feature is Zepp Coach, which claims to offer AI-based personal fitness guidance.

However, these are all technical details, I will still need to test their reliability and efficiency for a longer time, especially things like heart rate tracking and sleep data don't seem reliable unless they are tested for weeks.

It has an inbuilt microphone and speaker for Bluetooth calling. I tried connecting it to my smartphone and made a few calls through it, and it seemed fine for indoor or low noise conversations, but I feel that

you wouldn't like talking through its speaker in a noisy environment. Keep in mind that some features like NFC payments, music storage are limited to the premium version or some markets only.

Amazfit Active 2: Battery

Regarding the Amazfit Active 2's battery, the brand claims it can last up to 10 days, around 5 days with GPS on, and up to 19 days in battery saver mode. The battery dropped around 30% after two days of use, which included some notifications, screen-on time, and two to three calls of a few minutes each. If this trend continues, battery life could prove to be really impressive.

Amazfit Active 2: This much is clear in two days

The Amazfit Active 2 is a premium-looking smartwatch that promises a lot of features at a budget price. In two days of use, my favorite aspects were its design, display, and interface. As for health and fitness tracking, that needs more extensive testing. If you're looking for a watch that looks expensive, offers a good screen, and comes with basic smart features, the Amazfit Active 2 seems like a strong contender for now. But if you're looking for medical-grade tracking or athlete-level data accuracy, this first impression isn't a guarantee. That will require intensive testing and a review, which you'll likely find on our website in a few weeks. So, stay tuned to Gadgets 360 until then.
