Enabling this puts a PIN on WhatsApp.
No one can gain unauthorized access to your account without your PIN.
WhatsApp has become an integral part of our lives. Whether it's communicating with loved ones, for official work, sharing media or files, or sharing daily news in social or family groups, WhatsApp is everywhere. By June of this year, WhatsApp had a user base of over 3 billion. Therefore, it's crucial for us to keep our personal information safe on this platform. Access to your WhatsApp could mean the leaking of your chats with family and friends, your media files, or many important official chats.
While WhatsApp can't be set up without an OTP, did you know that the Meta-owned messaging platform offers its users an extra layer of security? We're talking about two-factor authentication, which, according to the platform, makes it impossible for an outsider to gain unauthorized access to your account. Two-step verification adds a special PIN to your account. It's a simple yet effective way to prevent hackers from gaining access to your WhatsApp, even if they have your SIM card.
In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to enable and manage two-step verification, ensuring your chats, media, and personal details stay private and secure.
First of all open WhatsApp .
Now tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner (on Android devices) or the Settings icon in the bottom right corner on iOS.
Now go to Account and select Two-Step Verification option.
Here you have to tap on Turn on.
WhatsApp will ask you to set a 6-digit PIN. Here, you need to set a PIN that you'll always remember.
WhatsApp will now ask you to add a recovery email. You can skip this option, but it's wise to submit an email, as if you forget your PIN, you can recover it via email.
After setting the PIN and email, two-step verification will be enabled on your WhatsApp.
You can disable two-step verification or change your PIN by returning to the Account option. Also, avoid entering a PIN that's easily guessable, such as one with more than two repeating numbers, your date of birth, etc. Don't share your set PIN with anyone.
