Hearing the baby's cries, his grandmother ran to the kitchen, where she found the baby inside the refrigerator. She immediately pulled him out. Family members said the child was immediately taken to a doctor, who confirmed he was safe.
In Moradabad's Karula area, a 23-year-old woman suffering from postpartum psychosis allegedly left her 15-day-old baby in the refrigerator. However, the baby's grandmother rescued him in time, and he is safe. The woman had recently given birth to a son and on September 5th, she allegedly left the baby in the refrigerator and went to sleep. Hearing the baby's cries, the grandmother ran to the kitchen and found the baby inside the refrigerator. She immediately took the baby out. Family members said the baby was immediately taken to a doctor, who confirmed that he was completely safe.
The woman was taken to a psychiatric and drug de-addiction center.
It is reported that the family initially suspected the woman was under the influence of an evil spirit, so they tried traditional rituals. When there was no improvement, the woman was taken to a psychiatric and de-addiction center, where psychiatrist Dr. Kartikeya Gupta diagnosed her with postpartum psychosis. Doctors stated that the woman is currently undergoing counseling and treatment.
Causes of Postpartum Depression
Psychiatrist Dr. Meghna Gupta explained that postpartum depression and psychosis can arise when women are neglected and lack adequate emotional support after childbirth. She explained that this can lead to severe mood swings and, in extreme cases, abnormal behavior. "In such cases, instead of relying on superstition, the patient should be taken to a psychiatrist for proper mental health support," Dr. Gupta said.
