If you have enabled WhatsApp chat backup on your Android or iOS device, the recovery process can be quite easy for you. Highlights
Recovery is possible from Google Drive (Android) and iCloud (iOS) backup
Recovery is also possible through local backup on Android device
Third-party recovery tools can also prove to be helpful
Accidentally deleting a particular WhatsApp chat can be frustrating, but with the right methods, it is possible to recover them. WhatsApp offers a built-in backup and restore option, which should solve your problem to a large extent if you have enabled regular backups. However, some users disable backups due to low storage on their Google account or other reasons, where deleting chats can be a hassle. However, there are still some options available to you to recover deleted chats.
This guide will show you ways to recover deleted chats, from cloud or local backups to third-party tools. This is possible on both Android and iOS operating systems, so we're covering both here.
Method 1. Restore from Google Drive (Android) or iCloud (iOS) Backup
If you have backups enabled in WhatsApp:
Uninstall WhatsApp and then download and install it again.
Now verify your number to login.
Now, WhatsApp will ask you to restore the backup from Google Drive (Android) or iCloud (iOS). Tap on 'Restore'.
Once restored, the chat you deleted will appear back.
Note: Make sure that your backup is done before you deleted the chats. This will only show messages that were sent or received before the backup was done.
Method 2. Restore from Local Backup (Android)
There is an extra option for Android users. WhatsApp continuously creates local backup in the phone's storage. For this you have to follow the steps given below:-
Open your file manager and go to /WhatsApp/Databases.
Rename the latest backup file from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt14 to msgstore.db.crypt14. Here YYYY-MM-DD represents the latest date.
Now uninstall WhatsApp, reinstall it and select 'Restore' during setup.
Method 3. Using Third-Party Recovery Tools
If the backup is not available, you can use third-party recovery tools like Dr.Fone or iMyFone. The recovery process is almost the same in most tools.
You need to install the recovery tool on your PC or Mac.
The software then asks the user to connect their device to a PC or Mac via USB. Many tools also ask the user to enable developer options on the Android device and turn on USB debugging.
The developers of these tools claim that by doing so, the tools scan the device and find the deleted chats from its root.
Keep in mind: We recommend you to install them only from the official website. Also, read carefully about all the features of any software before purchasing or downloading it. Gadgets 360 does not take any responsibility for these software.
