Eyes are the mirror of the body, this is how to recognize the early dangers of high blood pressure...

Don't take regular eye exams lightly. Especially those with pre-existing blood pressure issues should have their retinas checked at least once a year.
Hypertensive retinopathy: High blood pressure is often called a "silent killer" because its symptoms gradually damage the body from within. Surprisingly, the patient initially feels no discomfort, but it becomes increasingly dangerous over time. From the perspective of Ayurveda and science, one organ in the body that provides early warning signs of this danger is the eyes.
Our eyes are not only a medium of sight, but also a mirror of many changes occurring within the body. Ayurveda considers the eyes to be the mirror of the body, and modern science also confirms this.
In fact, the eye's structure makes the blood vessels there appear straight. It's impossible to see these vessels anywhere else in the body without surgery. When blood pressure rises, these delicate and thin blood vessels are the first to be affected. This change is so subtle that it can only be detected in the early stages through an eye exam. Let's find out how.
How to recognize hypertensive retinopathy
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, long-term high blood pressure can cause serious damage to the retina. This condition is medically known as hypertensive retinopathy. Initially, the blood vessels in the eye begin to thicken and harden. This change can gradually affect vision. If left untreated, vision may become blurred, and in some cases, vision may even suddenly become lost.
Sometimes, blood pressure can rise so much that it puts so much pressure on the veins of the eyes that blood and fluid leak out. This causes swelling inside the eyes. Sometimes, the main artery or veins of the retina become completely blocked, causing sudden loss of vision. This condition is a medical emergency and requires immediate treatment.
Ayurveda states that the eyes reflect the balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. When there is an imbalance, the eyes are the first indicator. High blood pressure is associated with an imbalance of Vata dosha, which can cause abnormally fast or obstructed blood flow. Burning sensation, heaviness, and blurred vision can all indicate the severity of the condition.
Get an eye exam
This is why it's crucial that we don't take regular eye exams lightly. Especially those with pre-existing blood pressure issues should have their retinas checked at least once a year.
