Seymour Hersh: The United States wanted to blackmail Russia by blowing up the "Northern Stream"

Seymour Hersh: The United States wanted to blackmail Russia by blowing up the "Northern Stream" The American journalist, Seymour Hersh, stated that the United States of America wanted to blackmail Russia by blowing up the "Northern Stream" pipeline to prevent the Russian military operation in Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with the prestigious Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Tichys Einblick magazine, where he continued: “It was claimed shortly before the new year 2021, perhaps around Christmas. The idea was to find something out of the ordinary that the president could use The American as a temptation or threat to persuade Russia (not to take military action in Ukraine).. The idea was to tell Russian President Vladimir Putin: We will blow up the pipelines if you cross the border with Ukraine. Hersh believes that the US government wanted to persuade Russia to maintain the status quo in Ukraine, but he believes that the US government is not good at persuasion, and acts according to the principle: "You are either with us or against us." The two pipelines exporting Russian gas to Europe, "Northern Stream 1 and 2", were bombed on September 26 of last year, and Germany, Denmark and Sweden did not rule out that it was a planned act of sabotage. On February 8, Nobel Prize-winning American journalist Seymour Hersh published the results of his own investigation into the circumstances of the explosions that occurred in the "Northern Stream" gas pipelines, and said that the United States had orchestrated this sabotage. He wrote that during the "Baltops" maneuvers in the summer of 2022, American divers mined gas pipelines, and after 3 months the Norwegian side blew them up. Hersh added that the decision to conduct this operation was taken by US President Joe Biden, after 9 months of discussion with national security officials in the US administration. Later, the Pentagon announced that the United States had no connection to the bombings of Russian gas pipelines last year.
