China has asked Japan not to interfere in the Taiwan issue, state media reported Tuesday.
And the Chinese Public Broadcasting Corporation (state) reported that Beijing warned Tokyo, during a high-level bilateral meeting on Monday, of violating China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially with regard to the Taiwan issue.
On Monday, delegations from the two countries held in the capital, Tokyo, the fifteenth round of high-level consultations on maritime affairs between them, according to the authority.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Director General of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hong Liang, and the Director General of the Office of Asian and Ocean Affairs of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Takehiro Funakoshi.
According to a statement issued by the Chinese side, during the meeting, the delegation reiterated Beijing's position on the issues of the East China Sea, the Diaoyu Islands (known as the Senkaku in Japan), the South China Sea and the Taiwan issue.
China urged Japan to "stop all actions that infringe China's maritime interests," and also demanded that Tokyo "not take any measures to interfere in the Taiwan issue."
On Monday, China announced the conclusion of three-day military exercises around Taiwan, during which it simulated raids on specific targets and cordoned off the island.
China does not recognize the independence of Taiwan, considers it part of its territory, and rejects any attempts to secede from it. On the other hand, Taiwan does not recognize the central government of Beijing.
