Okan Bash, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Turkish company Karsan, confirmed that Europe is witnessing a rapid transformation in the use of electric buses, which is positively reflected on "Karsan", which received orders for the purchase of 350 electric buses during the first half of this year.
The Turkish company "Karsan", the world's leading manufacturer of electric buses, is also seeking to pioneer the manufacture of self-driving buses and export them to various countries of the world.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Okan Bash, Chairman of the Executive Board of the company, said that it achieved its goals during the first half of this year, while continuing its activities as planned during the second half.
He added that the global chip crisis had negatively and significantly affected the auto industry, expressing hope "that conditions will improve soon in light of the crisis approaching a solution."
He explained that "the economy of Europe is gradually recovering from the effects of the Corona epidemic," coinciding with the issuance of tenders in the field of electronic buses, noting that "Karsan" participates in these tenders by submitting offers.
He stated that the company's goal this year is to achieve a growth in electric bus exports equivalent to 3 times what it was last year, indicating that there are positive indicators in this regard.
The spokesman stated that Europe is witnessing a rapid transformation in the use of electric buses, which is reflected positively on Karsan.
Export to Europe
The spokesman also mentioned that "Carsan" products of small and large buses are gaining interest in Luxembourg, which he considers "one of the most regular European countries in using public transport."
He continued, "Most European municipalities take Luxembourg as a model, so it was not easy for us to export 89 electric buses at once to this European country."
He revealed that "Karsan" exports of electric buses amounted to 350 buses during the last 3 years, indicating that this number constitutes 90% of the total exports of electric buses in Turkey.
And he added, "This is a strong motivation for us, as our reputation in Europe will be shaped by our performance in Turkey."
On the European market, the spokesman said that last year, Europe witnessed the sale of 3,000 electric buses, indicating that the Karsan company's share of these sales amounted to 150 buses.
He pointed out that orders for the purchase of 350 electric buses were received during the first half of this year.

Regarding the Turkish market, Bash said that the "Karsan" company seeks leadership in the country as well, pointing to their superiority in this field over the rest of the local companies.
He considered that there is currently a big trend to use self-driving buses around the world, pointing out that "Karsan" seeks to lead in the manufacture of self-driving buses as well.
He pointed out that the company is "the first international brand that conducted experiments in this field, within real traffic conditions (..) after obtaining the necessary licenses from the competent authorities."
