The first in the Arab world Two Jordanian scientists win the Shoman Prize for Scientific Research
Irbid - Between scientific research on financial risk management on the investments of individuals and companies, and others related to food technology as a functional, food and pharmaceutical product, specializing in Jordanian researchers Saddam Al-Wadi and Muhammad Al-Awdat.
Scientific research provided solutions to humanity in sensitive areas in investments and food, enriched the scientific research inventory, and led the researchers, Al-Wadi Al-Oudat, to win the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation Award for Arab Researchers and Scientists in its 39th session for the current year 2021.
An award that is the first of its kind in the Arab world, concerned with scientific research, supporting and highlighting it, celebrating Arab researchers, participating in preparing and inspiring a generation of Arab researchers, experts and specialists. regionally and globally.

Valley and risk management
The researcher, Dr. Saddam Al-Wadi introduces himself to Al-Jazeera Net as the researcher and Dean of the College of Business at the University of Jordan - Aqaba Branch. He completed his doctorate at the University of Malaysia for Science in 2012 with a specialization in Applied Statistics (financial data analysis).
During his scientific journey, he was awarded the Distinguished Researcher Award for Humanities Faculties for the year 2020 at the University of Jordan, and was honored with the award for the most published researcher in the Scopus database. He completed more than 60 scientific researches with a team of researchers, most of which were published in international journals classified within the Scopus database and ( ISI).
Al-Wadi's research focused in the field of forecasting and financial price fluctuations (Volatility), as measuring these fluctuations in stock prices is the main measure in the field of financial risk management, and price fluctuations are measured using special statistical criteria.
Accordingly - and the talk of the valley - investors estimate their returns and the risks involved when investing, especially in the financial markets, and measure losses in investments and the financial and business sector by predicting price fluctuations for financial risks.
Al-Wadi researcher was able to develop new mathematical models for forecasting in the field of financial risk management, and the topic of forecasting (fluctuations of financial losses and returns) is a very important area at the level of individuals and companies, in order to keep sufficient amounts of money to cover any loss that may occur in the future, and the risks of future companies are also measured. Using oscillations, study how and how much companies and individuals are compensated using these mathematical models.

Returns and food technology
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussain Al-Awdat specialized in food science and technology. He received his MA and PhD degrees from McGill University in Canada, and worked as a visiting professor of food chemistry at the same university for 4 years.
Al-Awdat is currently working - according to his speech to Al-Jazeera Net - as a professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, and has completed more than 90 scientific research published in high-impact specialized scientific journals.
He works as a consultant and technical expert in clinical nutrition and food science, and has scientific contributions in the field of chemistry and bioactive compounds in food as a functional, nutritional and pharmaceutical product, according to his speech, and has received a number of awards for the distinguished researcher.
Al-Awdat’s fields of scientific research focus on “extracting effective cyclic compounds from their plant sources” and identifying them, developing modern scientific methods to benefit from them, and using them as preservatives alternative to chemical preservatives for the benefit of human health.
Al-Awdat believes that determining the quality of these cyclic compounds in the food product constitutes a fingerprint that determines the identity of this food, and this enables the detection of fraud by using this fingerprint. .
Scientific research on the use of nanotechnology leads to “the production of nano-sized particles from plant and animal proteins, and the study of their impact on chronic diseases spread at the global and local levels, where their effectiveness has been proven.” Her food and medicine.
7 researchers in 6 fields
The Shoman Prize was distributed to 7 researchers from 6 Arab countries after a competition between 241 candidates from the Arab world. Jordan won two awards, Egypt won 3 awards, Lebanon won one award, and one went to Sudan. The awards were specialized in the fields of medical, health, engineering, technological, agricultural and economic sciences. and administrative
Valentina Kassisieh, CEO of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, believes that proper planning for the future calls us to support scientific research and empower its environment, especially that Arab scientific research support numbers are very modest and do not exceed 0.6%, while developed countries spend billions of dollars on scientific research and innovation.
