The SIR 2.0 case has reached the Supreme Court; the Election Commission will have to respond to the petitions filed by the TMC and DMK.

The Election Commission has initiated the second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in nine states and three union territories. Several parties, including the DMK, have filed petitions in the Supreme Court challenging the SIR in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The Supreme Court has sought a response from the Election Commission and ordered the High Courts to stay the proceedings. The AIADMK has supported the SIR.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought separate responses from the Election Commission (EC) on petitions filed by leaders of the DMK, CPI(M), the West Bengal unit of the Congress, and the Trinamool Congress, challenging the SIR process in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
