Converted to Indian Rupees, this price comes to just Rs 6.68 per Mbps. This low price is a direct result of the data revolution in the country, where fierce competition among telecom companies has benefited users. Since the entry of Reliance Jio, data prices have fallen drastically, forcing Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi) and other broadband providers to reduce their rates. Because of this, today the common Indian citizen can avail the benefits of high-speed internet without much burden on his pocket.

When we compare India to its neighbors, the picture becomes even clearer. Internet access in India is not only cheap, but significantly more affordable than in neighboring countries. However, one country still lags behind. According to the report;
Pakistan: The cost of internet here is $0.53 per Mbps (approximately Rs 44.25), which is almost 7 times more than in India.
Bangladesh: In Bangladesh, the price is $0.36 per Mbps (approximately Rs 30.06), which is more than 4 times that of India.
China: However, China is slightly cheaper than India in this case, where the price is $0.05 per Mbps (approximately Rs 4.17).

Most Expensive Internet: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has the world's most expensive internet, with a per-Mbps price of $4.31 (approximately ₹359.88). According to the report, this is largely due to a lack of competition in the market and the presence of only two state-owned service providers. Ghana and Switzerland are next, with average prices of $2.58 and $2.07, respectively.
Cheapest Internet: Romania offers the world's cheapest internet, costing just $0.01 (approximately ₹0.83 or 83 paise) per Mbps. Thailand ($0.02) is second, and Russia ($0.02) is third. India ranks 16th on this list for the cheapest data prices.
Comparison with developed countries
It's often assumed that technology is cheaper in developed countries, but this report directly challenges that notion.
