PAN card, or Permanent Account Number, is a document issued by the Government of India that serves as proof of identity for filing income tax returns and various financial transactions. PAN is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric number issued to Indian taxpayers by the Income Tax Department. The department records all tax-related transactions based on the unique PAN card number. Once issued by the government, the PAN number remains valid forever. How to apply for a duplicate PAN card
If you have lost your current PAN card, you can apply for a duplicate PAN card online through the official website, TIN-NSDL. This online process allows you to easily apply for a duplicate PAN card.
Follow these steps for a duplicate PAN card:
1. First, you need to visit the official website of TIN-NSDL and then request a reprint of your PAN card without changing any details from the options available there.
2. After that go to the Service tab and select PAN.
3. Go to the Reprint of PAN Card section and tap on Apply.
4. The online application form will now appear. You will then need to select your category and application type.
5. After filling in all the required fields, click Submit. You will receive an acknowledgment number on your registered email.
6. Proceed with the application process by providing your personal details and selecting the mode of submission of PAN application documents.
7. Select between e-PAN card and physical PAN card. If selecting e-PAN card, enter the correct email address.
8. On the Document Details page, provide the required contact information and complete your application.
9. You will then be redirected to the payment page. After completing the payment, wait for the online acknowledgement receipt.
10. After all this is completed, your PAN card will be sent to your address in about 15-20 days.
