The number of subscribers of state-owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has increased to nearly 91 million. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said this is a sign of growing confidence in BSNL. The company has also launched new services in the last few months. 


A media report quoted Scindia as saying that BSNL has made progress but a lot of work remains to be done. He said, "We have to implement Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions and shift from 4G to 5G network. However, it will take a few months to upgrade the 4G network to 5G network. The number of subscribers of the company has increased to about 9.1 crore. Last month BSNL added 13 lakh new subscribers. The company will launch 5G service soon." BSNL has completed the trial for 5G network. 5G network of private telecom companies Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel is present in a large part of the country.

Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated about one lakh 4G towers of BSNL. Indigenous technology has been used for the company's 4G network. The design of the company's 4G network is cloud-based, which can be upgraded to 5G network. BSNL has started the service of delivering SIM cards to the customers' doorstep. An online portal has been launched for this. Through this portal, customers will get the SIM card at their home. It will have prepaid and postpaid SIM options. Before this, customers will have to complete self-KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. 

India has also entered the 4G technology club. Previously, this technology was dominated by five companies from four countries: Sweden, South Korea, China, and Finland. BSNL's 5G service will be called Q-5G, with the Q standing for Quantum. The company has also launched anti-smishing and anti-spam protection to protect users from SMS messages containing fraudulent links.
