India has officially begun issuing e-passports, which will improve security and ease international travel. The Ministry of External Affairs launched the e-passport as a pilot project on April 1, 2024. The e-passport combines physical and digital security technologies. It contains an RFID chip and antenna that stores the passport holder's personal and biometric data.
