The Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L has been recalled globally for units manufactured from 2019 to 2025.
The problem is the wiring harness, which can affect functions such as the horn and headlights due to oxidation.
Auto Desk, New Delhi. Honda Motorcycle has issued a voluntary recall for its flagship adventure bike CRF1100L Africa Twin. This recall is not limited to India only, but is affecting the last six years (units manufactured between 2019 and 2025) globally. The company will replace the affected parts for free, whether the bike's warranty is valid or not.
Why was the recall done?
Honda has stated that this problem has been found in the wiring harness connected to the left handlebar switchgear. This wiring keeps getting bent repeatedly due to constant handlebar movement. Oxidation can occur at the joint terminals of the wiring harness over time. As a result, there may be a problem in current conduction. This may affect some important functions, such as the horn not working and there is a problem in changing the headlight from low beam to high beam. Honda says that this is just a precautionary measure, so that riders can have a better and safer experience for a long time.
How will the solution be found in India?
Honda's BigWing Topline dealerships will replace the affected parts. This replacement will be free of cost, no additional cost will be required. The company has not yet shared the exact number of affected vehicles. Customers can check if their bike is part of this recall by entering their vehicle's VIN number on Honda's website.
When will the replacement take place?
Honda said that the replacement process for the affected parts will start from the fourth week of January 2026. However, customers will be sent notifications (call / email / SMS) in advance. From today itself, dealers will contact the customers and start the vehicle inspection process.
