Semicon India 2025: India's first semiconductor chip Vikram 32-bit is ready, PM Modi said this big thing

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the SEMICON India 2025 conference today i.e. on September 2, 2025.

Highlights

Vikram 32-bit fully India designed processor introduced.

Vikram 32-bit chip has been developed by ISRO's Semiconductor Lab.

PM Modi said that important minerals are the basis of digital infrastructure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today, September 2, 2025, at the start of the Semicon India 2025 conference that the government is working on the next phase of the India Semiconductor Mission and Design-Linked Incentive Scheme. Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav presented the fully made in India processor Vikram 32-bit and testing chips of 4 other projects to Prime Minister Narendra Modi here. PM Modi said that critical minerals are the basis of digital infrastructure. The country has started working on the critical mineral mission and is ready to meet the growing demand for rare minerals. Let us know in detail about its semiconductor chip.

Vikram 32-bit processor

Vikram 32-bit processor has been developed by ISRO's Semiconductor Lab. It is a completely Indian made 32-bit microprocessor. Apart from this, test chips of 4 approved projects have also been presented.

PM Modi said...

PM Modi said that we are working on the next phase of India Semiconductor Mission. Now the day is not far when the smallest chip made in India will bring the biggest change in the world. The government is going to give shape to the new DLI (Design-Linked Incentive) scheme. Despite global uncertainties and economic challenges, the Indian economy grew at a rate of 7.8% in the first quarter, which is more than all expectations. This growth is visible in all sectors such as manufacturing, service, construction and agriculture. India's rapid development is infusing new energy in all industries and every citizen. This pace of development is rapidly leading India to become the third largest economy in the world.

What is a semiconductor chip?

A semiconductor chip is a small board made of a material that is prepared from silicon. It contains an integrated circuit (IC). These chips are very useful for any electronics device. In a way, they can be called the brain of a device. They are used in smartphones, computers, cars, TVs, industrial machines and medical devices.
