Netflix's shock is now on YouTube! If you break this rule, access will be blocked!

YouTube has implemented a new rule for Premium Family Plan. Now members will have to live at the same address, otherwise Premium access will be stopped in 14 days. Highlights

Strictness increased for YouTube Premium Family members

Premium access can be terminated after 14 days' notice

Steps to stop account sharing like Netflix

YouTube is reportedly preparing to take a tough stand on the rules of its Premium Family plan, in which the requirement of family members living at the same address is now being strictly enforced. According to a report, YouTube is marking those accounts where the members of the Premium Family plan do not actually live in the same house with the plan manager. It is possible that in the near future you too will get a warning message on your email. Let us tell you about it in detail.

Android Headlines reports that YouTube has started marking YouTube Premium Family accounts whose members do not live in the same household as the plan manager as family members. The Premium Family plan can include up to five members who get ad-free YouTube and YouTube Music access, but members must live at the same address.

Although this rule was there earlier, it was not strictly enforced till now. The report states that now some users have started receiving an email titled "Your YouTube Premium family membership will be paused", which warns that if this rule is not followed within 14 days, they will be removed from Premium access.

Even after this warning, flagged members will remain in the family group, but will only be able to watch YouTube videos with ads and all Premium benefits (such as offline downloads, background playback, YouTube Music) will end. Users will have to verify their eligibility by contacting Google Support to regain Premium features.

YouTube conducts electronic check-ins every 30 days or so to ensure that family members actually live at the same address. While this check was less stringent in the past, it is now being enforced more strictly. The move is similar to Netflix's crackdown on password sharing.

Due to this change, users who have been using the Premium Family plan outside of their family are at risk of losing their access and will now have to either subscribe separately or successfully verify the eligibility checks conducted by Google.
