How to report an online scam:
Visit the https://cybercrime.gov.in portal in a web browser on your phone or laptop .
After that, click on File a Complaint on the homepage.
Read and accept the terms and conditions on the next page.
Click on the 'Report Another Cyber Crime' button.
Then you have to select the 'Citizen Login' option.
After that, you have to enter your information, which includes name, email, and phone number.
Then you have to enter the OTP received on the registered phone number, enter the captcha and click on the submit button.
On the next page, you have to provide details about the cybercrime you want to report. The form is divided into 4 sections, including general information, victim information, cybercrime information and preview. All the details have to be entered in each section.
After reviewing the information, click on the 'Submit' button.
After that you will be directed to the incident details page. Here you have to provide the crime details along with evidence like screenshots or files. After entering the information, click on 'Save and Next'.
The next page will ask for information about the alleged suspect, if available. If you have any information about the suspect, enter it.
Verify the information and click on the 'Submit' button.
You will receive a confirmation message that your complaint has been registered. Along with this, you will also receive an email with the complaint ID and other relevant information.
