Google has finally rolled out Bluetooth LE Audio Auracast support for Pixel phone users. This means that you no longer have to pass the phone or share one earbud to play a song with your friend. On the Pixel 8 and all subsequent models, you can now connect two or more headphones simultaneously and share the fun of music, movies or podcasts, that too in complete sync. This move puts Google in line with companies like Samsung and Xiaomi, which were already offering this feature to their users. But this update is special for Pixel users because Google has introduced it with an even smarter touch in its Android ecosystem.

Auracast isn't just about two headphones, it's about providing a public audio broadcasting experience. Pixel users can start a private broadcast from their phone and instantly connect friends using a QR code or Fast Pair. This makes music sharing easier and more fun than ever before.

How to use it?

On Pixel 8 or newer, turn on Bluetooth.

Both headphones should support LE Audio Auracast.

First connect the headphone normally.

After this, go to Bluetooth settings and connect another headphone.

If you want, start an Auracast private broadcast and share the QR code.

Google has currently confirmed support for some Sony headphones and earbuds, such as the WF-1000XM5, WH-1000XM6, InZone Buds and LinkBuds series. Also, some hearing aids and Auracast-supported devices from Xiaomi and Samsung can also be connected. This feature will not work in headphones that are not LE Audio-compatible.

With Pixel updates, the company has also announced improvements in its audio hardware. Pixel Buds Pro 2 will soon get Adaptive Audio feature, which will be a combination of Active Noise Cancellation and Environmental Awareness. Loud Noise Protection will also be provided in it, which will automatically reduce the volume when a loud sound suddenly occurs.

Google believes that LE Audio support is not just a new feature but a major change in audio technology, which will give users a more connected and smarter listening experience.
