Leaks reveal a "secret feature" that WhatsApp may launch regarding group conversations! WhatsApp users will soon get the option to set an expiration date for their group chats, a leaker has claimed. Upon reaching this date, they will be asked to delete some old messages, or delete the chat completely. This is intended to be a space-saving solution, as the app is known to take up a lot of device memory by keeping messages going back years. It can also help users keep their WhatsApp system more organized by removing "zombie" conversations that are no longer relevant, such as temporary chats created for certain events. Any messages or conversations deleted in this way will only disappear from the device of the person who set the expiration date. Other recipients of the messages will still have access to them, until they choose to delete them as well. An experienced user discovered the feature using an unreleased WhatsApp update and is currently being tested through the Google Play Beta Program. This is a subscription service that gives Android users exclusive access to new versions of apps available in the Google Play Store. While this particular feature is not currently available to testers, WhatsApp Beta allows them to see which ones are currently in development, according to WABetaInfo. The leak provided a screenshot of the Expired Group, which will be visible on Android devices. This shows the choices available to users about how much time they want to pass before they receive an expiration prompt, either 1 month, 1 week, or now. There is also an option to receive the "Now" prompt, indicating that it will not only involve the user manually deleting each message or conversation, as can be done in the current version of WhatsApp. And in March, a similar "Expired Collections" feature was seen by Apple's version of the Google Play Beta Program. TestFlight beta program. Again, the feature wasn't made available to testers as it was still in development, but they could access the details of what it would look like when it was. Screenshots from WABetaInfo show that there will be a Custom Date option, in addition to the one seen in the Android version. It will also allow users to remove the expiration date before reaching it, in case they change their mind. Details of this feature could change in both the iOS and Android versions of WhatsApp prior to its release. Expired Groups will be available in "WhatsApp 2.23.8.11" version when beta testing begins and is available with the Google Play Beta Program. WhatsApp recently added new features to the unreleased version of the app that is currently available to testers. This includes adding Companion Mode, which will allow more than one smartphone or other device to be logged into a single account. And also "locked chats" that can only be accessed through the user's biometric data, such as a fingerprint or passcode.
