“A very worrying situation.” The German government admits a shortage of antibiotics for children  On Friday, the German government acknowledged a shortage of antibiotics for children and pledged to take steps to address the problem.  Speaking during a press conference in the capital, Berlin, Health Ministry spokesman Sebastian Goldi said, "The ministry has informed the regional authorities of the problem."  He pointed to the activation of the necessary mechanisms as part of the early warning system, and thus the local authorities will be able to interact more flexibly with the aim of purchasing antibiotics in a non-bureaucratic manner when needed also from abroad.  While a prominent doctors union warned earlier of the severe shortage of antibiotics for children in Germany, and called for immediate steps to address the problem.  In this regard, Jacob Musk, a spokesman for the Association of Pediatricians "BVKJ", said, "Children who really need an antibiotic sometimes do not get it."  Musk added, in a press statement, that the situation has become "very worrying."  And he indicated that a number of children are at risk due to a lack of antibiotics, while their families have been left in a desperate situation, struggling to secure medicine for them.​​​​​​​
