The impact of artificial intelligence in education and why ChatGPT is a game-changer

The impact of artificial intelligence in education and why ChatGPT is a game-changer Integration of ChatGPT into schools will increase the effectiveness of education, provide students with a more personalized curriculum, and encourage innovation among teachers. Artificial intelligence was once a remote, questionable possibility, but with the launch of ChatGPT, society is now forced to acknowledge its relationship with an inhuman companion ready to infiltrate their lives and the lives of their children. According to a survey conducted by the Walton Family Foundation on the use of ChatGPT in schools, it was found that teachers use this technology, which has been banned, more than their students use it. Compared to the 40% of teachers who use ChatGPT on a weekly basis, 22% of students report using the technology. These findings show why ChatGPT should be integrated into schools around the world to enhance the power of education, give students a more personalized approach to learning, and help teachers innovate. During February 2023, two groups of 1,002 teachers and 1,000 students, ages 12 to 17, were interviewed online in the United States. They were asked about their use of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-enhanced chat program, which receives more than 13 million visitors per day. Although some teachers use it on a weekly basis, and 53% expect to use it more by the end of the year, school districts have not yet approved this behavior. In Australia, the authorities' rapid and comprehensive nationwide ban on the use of this technology left only two states out of the ban. Public schools in New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania have banned ChatGPT, and Los Angeles, New York City, Seattle and others in the US are doing the same, because of the technology's indistinguishable human-like response. However, according to teachers, prohibiting use is not necessary, as only 10 percent of teachers claim to have discovered that students are using ChatGPT without their permission, compared to 38 percent who encourage students to make use of it. With a negative mindset, school board officials overreact to technology in the classroom: teachers (72 percent) and students (63 percent) feel that ChatGPT is “just another example that we can't keep doing things the old fashioned way.” schools in the world today. The monotony of education can be alleviated if innovative approaches to learning traditional subjects are explored. While computers and artificial intelligence encourage children to exercise their creativity and critical thinking, the notion of over-reliance on technology is no longer valid. It must be recognized that ChatGPT and AI are already available and have been leveraged to help students discover new learning strategies. For example, text generated by ChatGPT can be displayed as just another compare and contrast text. Personalized feedback is another element that would add to the mental and emotional benefits of AI in the classroom: there would be no such pressure on teachers to provide individual feedback. For starters, AI can do the essential work and reduce effort by expressing what each student needs, freeing up teachers' time to focus on providing students with personalized feedback. Teachers using ChatGPT and AI will perform routines such as grading and lesson planning more efficiently. A great partnership (between humans and artificial intelligence) can create a unique tool for the next generation. Skeptics may cite privacy issues and the possibility of bias in the databases. But this technology will not become commonplace in classrooms anytime soon unless schools step forward in individual adoption. In terms of privacy concerns, student data is currently stored in systems that are vulnerable to cyberattacks. And if the schools worked to achieve this addition, the bureaucracy would move very slowly, preventing the process from achieving tangible progress. Moderation in the use of technology, like moderation in anything else, is considered a good thing, regardless of who uses it. What is important is to promote measures to understand what the responsible use of technology is. The incorporation of ChatGPT and other AI technologies into the classroom will soon become as common as using other technologies such as the calculator. If this integration is carried out properly, every student will receive a higher standard of education, and the contradictions that usually lead to unequal opportunities will be eliminated.
