Mehbooba Mufti said there is no rule of law in Jammu and Kashmir and "we came to Delhi to speak our heart out, but it seems that the voice of the common people has been suppressed here too".
The Delhi Police has detained Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba mufti and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, who was on her way to Parliament on Wednesday to protest against the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba Mufti had planned to march from Railway Bhawan to Parliament along with PDP workers. Here she wanted to inform the opposition parties about the "bulldozer policy" of the Jammu and Kashmir administration. "We had come to tell the people, opposition parties and members of the ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) about the problems being faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Mehbooba said.
"If we can't go to Parliament, where should we go? Mehbooba said there is no rule of law in Jammu and Kashmir and "we came to Delhi to speak our heart out, but it seems that the voice of the common people has been suppressed here too".
The PDP and other political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have condemned the anti-encroachment drive and asked the administration to stop it. They say that it is affecting the poor.
