Today, Thursday, the WhatsApp platform announced the official launch of the “ Communities ” feature , which allows the inclusion of similar groups in one community, to facilitate communication between them.
The new feature will help make groups more organized, will facilitate communication by having dedicated groups within the larger community, and will also allow messages to be sent to all common groups in the community at once.
For example, some business community members can create a subgroup for a separate project or upcoming event, when some people just need to chat.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a video he posted on his Facebook account, in which he wore a green T-shirt to celebrate the new feature, that the messages shared by users across the community are still encrypted, which is not provided by competitors.
According to a statement by the platform issued today, Thursday, and published on its official website, the feature will begin to spread in the coming months, to reach all users of the platform, after it has been under testing in limited circles in the past months.
Additional Features
WhatsApp also announced a number of additional features that will be available to users, such as the ability to create polls within the chat, the ability to make a video call of 32 people, and create groups of up to 1024 users.
According to the statement, features such as emoji interactions, sharing of large files, and the ability for moderators to delete messages will be available in and outside of communities.
The new feature was widely admired by users, as activists and bloggers said that the new feature will contribute to making the application more organized and effective.
