The second in the world, Turkish series are broadcast in about 152 countries

The second in the world, Turkish series are broadcast in about 152 countries Turkey ranked second in the world in the export of TV series, after the United States of America. The sector witnessed a boom in recent years, which had great returns on the rest of the sectors. During the past five years, Turkey has exported its series to about 152 countries around the world. It ranked second after the United States in terms of demand from abroad, according to a report published by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO). The report reveals the progress of the Turkish film industry, which is now providing high returns, in addition to the fact that many dramatic productions have won international awards. In this context, Israfil Korolai, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, said that 2015 was a turning point in the Turkish film and series industry, as Turkey was invited as a guest of honor to the MIPCOM International Exhibition of Communication Programs, which increased the market share of Turkish series. "The film industry has a mission that can be described as (the engine) of the economy, because the film sector is the most important sector that shows the country's creative power," Korolay explained. He added that the Turkish series production sector has become second only to the United States, with the export value of series reaching more than $500 million. Korolai explained that the export of soap operas, which began in the past ten years and developed rapidly, has greatly affected many sectors such as textiles, jewellery, real estate and tourism, adding that export has not only an economic dimension, but a cultural dimension as well. He stressed that the success of Turkish series, which are watched by more than 150 countries, should be achieved in the film industry as well. Turkish soap operas have received a huge audience of more than 700 million viewers in countries ranging from Russia to China and from Korea to Latin America. During his participation last year in the presidential awards ceremony in the field of culture and art, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkish soap operas have entered the homes of billions of people around the world. He pointed out that the series that narrate the history of Turkey and are produced in it are exported to about 150 countries in the world. He also praised many successful Turkish citizens who represent their country in various artistic and cultural fields around the world. "If we want to advance our civilization again, we must first intensify our efforts and capabilities in the field of culture and art, and devote more of our time to it," President Erdogan added.
