Outperforms Al-Kindi The Turkish CAST system proves its worth with Bayraktar TB2 drones After Canada announced a ban on the export of technological systems related to drones to Turkey, the Turkish defense industry was able to produce local alternatives that exceed the capabilities of the systems that were banned from exporting. The Turkish defense company "ASELSAN" has succeeded in producing the "CAST" system for reconnaissance, surveillance, photoelectric targeting and detection of targets. And the system began to be used effectively with Turkish drones produced with national capabilities, most notably Bayraktar TB2 after Canada announced in April 2021 the cancellation of permits to export this type of technology to Turkey months after they were suspended, justifying that Azerbaijan is using Turkish drones equipped with this system in its war against Armenia, which occupy its lands. Last year, the Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa Varank, announced the success of tests of the system while using it with Bayraktar TB2 drones. Today, Turkish drones use the local “CAST” system effectively in various missions after it has proven its worth in tests. Capabilities beyond the capabilities of the Canadian system The reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting system developed by Aselsan has capabilities that exceed the capabilities of the system that Canada banned from selling to Turkey, as it can monitor and photograph targets from altitudes of up to 20,000 feet and identify them with lasers from a distance of 30 kilometers. It also has the ability to clearly photograph fixed and moving targets in low light and in various weather conditions, and the ability to monitor multiple targets and determine their location and speed with high accuracy. It is planned that the new system will be used in all armed marches and marches used by the Turkish security forces.
