If you have updated your iPhone to iOS 16, you will need to spend a few minutes adjusting your settings. There is one very useful, but hidden setting, called Filter Unknown Senders.
If you want to enable this feature, you have to go to Settings, then Messages, scroll down to find it, and now you can filter your messages to only show you messages from people you don't know.
This feature has been around for two years, and was initially designed with the sole purpose of trapping messages you don't want in your inbox.
The iPhone puts messages from numbers in your contacts in one place, and those from unknown numbers in another.
But it's a good feature, and you should use it if you'd rather not see spam numbers and texts with messages from your friends and family.
A new feature hidden inside an old one
After activating the anonymous sender filtering feature and updating the system “iOS 16”, a new “filter” button will appear in the upper left of the Messages application, and once you click on it and choose “unread messages”, you will immediately find the unread messages for months that were appearing You get a badge on the Messages app.
And thanks to the new iOS 16 feature, you can now mark unread messages and use the filter as a kind of contact list.
