"The clearest example of hypocrisy" Cavusoglu denounces the statements of Western leaders about the events of 1915

"The clearest example of hypocrisy" Cavusoglu denounces the statements of Western leaders about the events of 1915 Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu considered the statements of Western leaders regarding the events of 1915 a clear example of hypocrisy, as describing them as "genocide" can only be made by a court decision. On Sunday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu denounced US President Joe Biden's use of the word "genocide" to refer to the events of 1915, indicating that this was "the clearest example of hypocrisy." Cavusoglu pointed out in a tweet that some Western leaders have been asserting in recent days that the word "genocide" can only be used by a court decision. He added: "It is true, the politically motivated use of the word 'genocide' for the events of 1915 by the same people without a decision of a competent court is the clearest example of their hypocrisy." Earlier, US President Joe Biden described the events of 1915 as "genocide", which the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned in a statement on Sunday. Armenia and the Armenian lobbies around the world in general demand that Turkey recognize what happened during the 1915 deportation as a "genocide", and thus pay compensation. Turkey stresses that this description cannot be applied to the events of 1915, which it considers a "tragedy" for both parties.

Iraq a parliamentary proposal criminalizing normalization with Israel

The "Save the Homeland" bloc, the largest coalition in the Iraqi parliament, submitted a bill to the parliament's presidency that provides for "criminalizing" normalization with Israel.

The "Save a Homeland" bloc, the largest coalition in the Iraqi parliament, announced on Sunday that it had submitted a draft law to the parliament's presidency that provides for "criminalizing" normalization with Israel.

This came during a press conference at the parliament building, which was held by representatives of the coalition that belongs to it, the Sovereignty Alliance (Sunni), the Kurdistan Democratic Party (Kurdish), and the Sadrist movement (Shiite) and it has 175 seats in Parliament out of 329.

The head of the Sadrist bloc in parliament, Hassan al-Adari, said during the conference: "Today we announce the law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist entity (Israel), and cutting off the road for anyone who wants to establish any kind of relations with this entity."

He added, "The Sadrist bloc with its allies in (Save a Homeland) submitted the draft law proposal to the parliament's presidency."

Al-Adari explained that "the proposed law includes 10 articles, each article containing a set of points."

He pointed out that "the proposal will be presented in Parliament, and it will be referred to the relevant committees for the purpose of reading a first and second reading, and then voting on the law."

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, had announced, on Saturday, the intention of the Sadrist bloc and its allies to put forward a draft proposal to criminalize normalization, for a vote in Parliament.

Article 201 of the Iraqi Penal Code stipulates that "anyone who favors or promotes the principles of Zionism, including Freemasonry, or who is affiliated with any of its institutions, or helps them financially or morally, or works in any way to achieve its objectives, shall be punished with death."

Iraq does not establish any relations with Israel, and the government and the majority of political forces refuse to normalize with it.
