Chinese authorities have kept the vast majority of those sentenced to life in prison after the 2017 hostage-taking a secret from society and their incarcerated families. Prominent journalist Kurban Mammut is also one of the few inmates to be found with very little information. Bahram Sintash, the son of Kurban Mammoth in the United States, was recently found dead and confirmed by a telephone interview with our correspondent that he had been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Below you will find the program prepared by our correspondent Shohrat Hoshyar in this regard.
Bahram Sintash, the son of Kurban Mammut, the editor-in-chief of Xinjiang Culture, an authoritative magazine in the Uyghur region, recently received information that his father had been sentenced to 15 years in prison. The message was conveyed by his hadith in Urumqi. Because the information came from the family members of the convict, although it was considered reliable, but not directly, but indirectly, we determined the accuracy of the information.
The cultural administration in Urumqi, where Kurban Mammoth's office is located, declined to comment.
Kurban Mamut is one of the most influential and very limited inmates in the Uyghur region. Her son, Bahram Sintash, has been tracking her father since 2017 in the form of testifying about his father, interviewing the media, and reporting the situation to the relevant authorities, but to no avail. During a telephone interview with our radio last year, a Chinese colleague of the victim, Mammoth, revealed that he was in captivity. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Although Bahram Sintash only found out that Hadeeth and his mother were outside by indirectly monitoring Hadi's audience and making inquiries about the family situation through acquaintances, he still did not receive any information about his father. The news that his 15-year-old father was recently cut off is the only information he has received from his family as a result of his 5-year-old attempt to capture his father.
Hadi, a national security official in Urumqi, said he was aware of the death sentence but could not be reached for comment.
No previous information was available on the whereabouts of the victim. Authorities in the aftermath of the 2017 abductions reportedly sent most of the hostages to camps in their hometowns, regardless of population, while others reported the case to police in their hometowns. So we called the police station in Kucha, his hometown, to determine the timing of the victim's death. One of Qurban Mammut's brothers, Ahmet Mammut and one of Nurnisa Mammut's children, said he was aware of the 15-year sentence of Kurban Mammut.
An Urumqi Intermediate Court official who answered our call also confirmed that the victim had been sentenced to 15 years in prison. He said he was new to the job, but did not say which prison he was serving in.
Above, we report that the 15-year sentence of renowned journalist Kurban Mammoth has been confirmed.
