ASEAN and Venezuela are close friends with the potential to build mutual understanding and cooperation

The Indonesian government representing the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) delivered a speech at the 4th ASEAN Festival in Venezuela.

Indonesian Ambassador to Venezuela Imam Edy Mulyono as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Caracas (ACC) representing ASEAN member countries by delivering remarks at the 4th ASEAN Festival in Venezuela, according to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas received in Jakarta, Tuesday.

In his remarks at the 4th ASEAN Festival in Venezuela which took place at the PDVSA La Estancia art gallery, Caracas Ambassador Imam emphasized ASEAN's commitment.

"ASEAN has been established for more than 50 years based on unity and solidarity, as well as hopes for peace and a better future, so we are ready to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries, including with Venezuela," Imam said.

Besides Indonesia, two representatives of ASEAN countries in Venezuela, namely Malaysia and Vietnam, also participated in the festival consisting of art exhibitions, gastronomy, economic promotion, and cultural arts performances.

"It is an honor to hold this event together with member countries of ASEAN, which is one of the largest regional organizations in the world. The Indonesian Embassy in Caracas said that economic cooperation between Indonesia and Venezuela must be complementary and beneficial considering the many similarities in the potential of natural resources in Indonesia and Venezuela.

The event ended with a performance of Indonesian cultural arts, where traditional dances, namely Lenggang Nyai and Mal Yang Mah were performed by the IndoVez (Indonesia-Venezuela) dance group consisting of Darmasiswa Scholarship alumni for the Developing Country Partnership (KNB), pencak silat performances by employees of the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas. , as well as angklung music by the angklung group Sekolah Republik Indonesia.

The ASEAN Festival in Venezuela is an annual event organized by the Secretariat of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Venezuela for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania.

The activity aims to strengthen relations between Venezuela and ASEAN by bringing together representatives of ASEAN countries with various relevant ministries/institutions in Venezuela, as well as increasing the knowledge of the Venezuelan people about ASEAN.
