Foot deformities in children lead to muscular imbalance
In the event of foot deformities in children, the joints are unstable and therefore the body position while standing is incorrect.
Children are more prone to orthopedic problems due to congenital genetic disorders
Professor Ralph Stocker said that some children suffer from deformities of the feet, in which the feet are O-shaped, curving outward, or X-shaped, meaning inward.
The German orthopedic doctor explained that these abnormalities may be caused by genetic factors or some diseases such as vitamin D deficiency, noting that these abnormalities often fade on their own after 18 to 24 months for O-shaped abnormalities, and after 6 to 8 years for X-shaped deformities.
In the event that the deformities persist until an older age, then a doctor should be consulted, given that these deformities may lead to erosion of the knee joint, and cause muscular imbalance where the joints are unstable, and then the body position while standing is incorrect, as well as Lack of balance and stability while walking.
These abnormalities are treated by physical therapy and surgery, such as adjusting growth centers.
Children may be at greater risk of bone problems due to congenital genetic disorders from birth. Genetic disorders are passed on from parents to their children through genes, including clubfoot, clubfoot, hip dysplasia, limb defects, osteogenesis imperfecta and muscular atrophy, and also result from exercise.
If cataracts persist longer after delivery, physiotherapy should be started immediately with careful stretching exercises.
Sprains, broken bones, bruises, scrapes, and concussions are usually diagnosed in children who play sports. This is due to overtraining, lack of preparation, and improper form or technique.
Some children may be born with foot deformities, but most of these abnormalities and deformities disappear on their own, and some cases may require a doctor’s consultation and surgical intervention.
Hermann Joseph Kall, of the German Association of Pediatricians and Adolescents, explained that it is important that children undergo regular medical examinations so that abnormalities and imbalances are detected and treated early, as there are good chances that no damage will appear.
One of the most common deformities of the foot in children is the disproportionate foot. The pemphigus is considered a type of congenital malformation in the feet of children, and in this case it is curved upwards and its soles are facing outward. Newborns often have this type of congenital anomaly.
Physiotherapist Fruke Mescher explained that these abnormalities usually disappear on their own during the first few days after birth.
She added that if the cat's foot deformities persist for a longer period after birth, physiotherapy should be started immediately with careful stretching exercises, noting that the orthopedic specialist or physiotherapist explains to the parents how to do these exercises.
