A Palestinian converts a cave into a recreational resort

Businessman Amin Karakra puts the cave at the disposal of the people of his town for recreation, free nights and barbecue parties.

An attempt to recall the life of an ancient Palestinian
Ramallah on Palestinian Karim Amin Krakrh is located inside a cave home to an outlet for the people of his hometown , "Singles" near the city of Ramallah , central West Bank.

At the foot of a mountain overlooking many valleys and mountains, Karakra began about 3 years ago to restore a cave and transform it into a resort in the middle of a beautiful nature, which residents of nearby areas visit for recreation.

However, the Israeli occupation authorities sent a notice to Karakra to stop the “renovation and construction work” in the cave.

Karakra, 40, says that the cave was previously used to raise sheep, and is located in an uninhabited area west of his town.

However, since he acquired the land in which the cave is located, he has focused his efforts on developing it and bringing it back to life, adding, “After great restoration work, the cave is suitable for human living.”

Regarding his goal in restoring the cave, Karakra, who is considered one of the most prominent businessmen in the town of Singel, says, “It is an attempt to recall the life of the ancient Palestinian,” as he lived in caves, tents and houses made of mud and stones.

After rehabilitating the cave, whose area is estimated at about 100 square meters, and providing it with a sewage network, water, electricity and heating, Karakra made it an outlet for his family, friends, and the people of his town, “Singel.”

In this regard, he says, "Whoever wants to relax and hold parties and barbecues, can use the cave, for free."

From the barbecue yard, the viewer can see wonderful views, represented by valleys and olive and fig fields scattered around the place.

The decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to stop any restoration and development work in the cave, to disturb the peace of the residents of the town of Singel, who consider it an outlet for them.
